POP COWBOY
Guests entered the lawn space through a hugely-impactful art installation consisting of off-cantered glow cubes with pop art decals, a desert cacti garden painted in primary tones + over-sized neon marquee cowboy boots + howling desert wolves. Anchoring the lawn space + creating much-needed height + dimension was a 360-degree bar with custom trellis displaying a mangle of trick rope, primary-colored "HOWDY" marquee letters + custom cowboy comic book inserts.
Tables ranged from rustic wood to stark black lacquer with "Pop, Wham, Bam!" comic decals. A white looking glass table featured an insert with a Warhol-inspired cowboy boot art piece ; discoverable only by those lucky enough to take that seat + delight in the artistic surprise. Everywhere guests looked, their eyes were met with a juxtaposition of old + new, rustic + refined, ultra modern + nostalgic. Red acrylic Kartell-inspired barstools perched up against industrial wood + edison bulb-canopy communal tables. Black + yellow louis chairs, seemingly plucked out of a comic book, alternated with rustic wood x-backs + ghost chairs featuring neon "floating" decals of cowboy hats + comic book phrases. Linens also married the Old West with the pop art presence - faux cowhide, classic red bandana print + classic black + white buffalo check.
A life-size white lacquer horse, perched statuesquely in the space, was an artful discovery for curious guests eager for a unique photo opportunity. Centerpieces consisted of potted cacti painted in primary tones, modern pave compositions of traditional Western botanicals like fresh cotton, wheat + whimsical red gerbera daisies. Neon saguaro cactus + cowboy boot sculptures added more life + dimension to other tables. Within the lounge sections, the contrast of tradition + whimsy were again on-display. Authentic cowhides, cobalt blue + banana yellow pleather, denim patchwork + classic Americana accents played with perforated "comic-book-esque" chrome + ultra modern acrylic.
Individual food stalls, each with its own culinary contribution + aesthetic, honored Hawaii’s distinctive Pan-Asian culinary topography. Blonde wood slatted walls served as the common thread to all restaurants –each having been adorned by art installations, impact graphics or botanic displays to mirror the respective concept’s design.
